In 1971, Bondtite formed as subsidiary of one of the world’s largest wattle-extract suppliers, spearheading the production of wattle-based adhesives for a global market. Bondtite has established itself as a leader in the research and development of innovative wattle-based products since, with additional applications in mining, agriculture and water treatment.
Our products are derived from the bark of the Acacia mearnsii tree, a fast-growing wattle variety native to Australia that yields 100% natural, water soluble and reactive polyflavonoids or condensed tannins. Our trees are harvested on an 8-to-10-year cycle, yielding one ton of bark to every five tons of utilised timber. The environmental impact of wattle farming is low because the tree’s roots enriches the soil with nitrogen and so it can be grown repeatedly on the same site without decline in yield. Our farmers practice contour planting and other forest-management best-practices in their commercial plantations to prevent soil erosion and preserve water resources.
A collaboration between NTE Bondtite and Aqua Tech Switzerland has yielded Lucent, our newest innovation in natural water treatment.
NTE Bondtite’s products are made from modified wattle tannins, an extract that is completely natural and safe to use. Besides its primary use in the leather tanning, wattle tannin is versatile and adaptable to a range of industries. Its most notable properties include:
